Nichola Skedgel (Sykes)

I am Nichola Skedgel, Director of House Moving Solutions. I have moved house more than 10 times in the last 14 years and I know first-hand how stressful this can be when either renting or owning your own home. On each occasion, I felt there was something I needed help with, whether it be decluttering my house, how to pack, which removal company to use, or what size storage unit I should reserve. There was always a query and no one I could ask. More recently I have taken up a voluntary position as the Twitter Manager for APDO, the Association of Professional Organisers and Declutterers.


In April 2016 we were relocating from Wolverhampton to Leeds with our 10 month old son. Having just returned to a full-time job following maternity leave, moving house was a prospect I feared, and as it turned out quite rightly so. I simply hadn’t had the time to plan and arrange the move in the way I needed it to be organised, which left us wasting money and quite frankly being very disorganised when we finally arrived at our new home. It took us a long time to settle into our surroundings.

Employment history

I spent ten happy years working for British Athletics where I found my niche area of expertise – a contract manager on large scale events. I love managing a project from beginning to end and having worked in procurement and events, sourcing suppliers, working to deadlines and negotiating the best price all come as second nature to me. I enjoyed my job, but the commute to Birmingham from Leeds was not sustainable, so I decided to change career, and House Moving Solutions was born.

House Moving Solutions

I set up House Moving Solutions in November 2016 to fill the gap in the market for those people who are simply too busy to organise everything that is associated with moving house. It was something I had first-hand experience of, and thought others may have the same problem.

We are a holistic house move management company, providing a consultancy service to help you with a number of tasks when moving house. We focus mainly on three packages; prepare to move, pack and move and manage the move. Each of these packages can be tailored to suit your requirements because we know every move is different, and every customers needs differ.
